There has been a lot of investment in positioning Singapore as a Smart Nation. And also a lot of emphasis on Smart Manufacturing (or Smart Factory or Smart Industry or Industry 4.0). When it comes to Smart Home, I could not think of an immediate showcase (as compared to Model Factory or Smart Factory at SIMTECH or ARTC). The IExperience Showcase of Smart Nation was also closed as of April 2018.
My search for it started after an old friend flew in to Singapore on the 8 July to have a discussion with me about it. After lots of discussion with people in the IoT space and over the internet. And finally spending time to go to the different sites on the 18 July. The sites visited are Samsung Smart Home Experience@Ngee Ann City Best Denki, Singtel Comcentre Smart Home, Park Colonial Condo Showflat, Bosch Experience Centre, Tapestry Condo Showflat and Courts Megastore Smart Home Experience. From the list, I have compiled the Top 2 Smart Home Showcase in Singapore.
I will constantly update this list as and when I have new information on Smart Home showcase and demonstrations in Singapore.
1. Samsung Smart Home Experience@Ngee Ann City Best Denki
This was launched in June 2018. The Best Denki at Ngee Ann City is opened 10am to 10pm. It is located at Level 5 of Ngee Ann City. The smart devices being featured include Samsung’s Connect Home Pro smart hub with QuickDrive washing machines, QLED TVs, robot vacuum cleaners, smart locks, smart plugs, motion sensors and so on. This can be considered to be the largest Smart Home showcase in Singapore as the size is almost that of a 5-room HDB flat.
Samsung Experience Centre
Samsung has this fabulous app that control all the Smart Devices called the Samsung Connect app. It can even interface with non-Samsung appliances such as TP-Link Smart Camera.
Samsung Smart Appliances
Currently they have a free guided tour around the showcase 3pm to 4pm on every Saturday and Sunday. It is being conducted by a staff from Samsung. If you would like to have a demo outside of the above timing, do check with the sales staff whether the Samsung staff is around.
2. Singtel Smart Home
At the Singtel shop on the first floor of the Comcentre, there is a pleasant Smart Home setup by Singtel. The showcase is much better than expected (from what can be found online). Customers will have the chance to really hands-on the smart devices and the smart phone.
You can touch the top of any of the devices below – namely Samsung Smart Home, Samsung IP Camera, Philips Lighting and Smart Lock to find out more about these devices.
Singtel Smart Home
The best part is you can get started to use these devices using the Smart Phone next to the chairs. There is a Amazon Alexa next to it, and you can strike a conversation with it.
It is through these hands-on that you can really set the electronic gate to be open or close, change the colours of the lightings. I have to salute to Singtel to setup this Smart Home showcase to make it truly fun. An amazing part about the 3 lamps (one on the table, and two on the walls), is that you can change the colour of the lightings through the Smart Phone.

There was initially a third with the Courts Smart Home Experiential Hub. One of my colleague went down a month back and the feedback was there were not many home appliances connected to it compared to the Samsung Smart Home Experience. And the show case was closed as of 18 July after we made a site visit to find out more about it.
And of course, there are condo showflats which feature smart appliances such as The Visionaire EC (located at Sembawang) and Inz Residence EC (located at Choa Chu Kang). Below is a snapshot of the smart appliances that can be found in The Visionaire EC. The showflat for the Visionaire and Inz Residence EC are no longer available. But you can still check out the website or visit friends who are living there.
